If I were the rainbow
I’d paint colours of joy on your lovely heart
So the world may always envy
Your gorgeous existence in it.

If I were the sun
I’d always shine on your face
Radiate your years in times of darkness
Shelter you from third -world harshness

If I were the stars
I’d twinkle on your eyes to days on end
So they reflect the softness in you
Softness of wool on a mountain ewe.

If I were the moon
I’d smile, smile n smile
On your gentle lips never to cease
Forever you’d be at ease.

If I were the rain
I’d shower your fine dark pigment
So the Africa in you
May evermore puzzle all humanity
