WriteThinking: Feed Kenya

I woke up at 2 am and wrote a post for this column. I tried to upload it and just couldn’t. I was writing about #powojuly, what I learnt, how much I value my thoughts, because my thoughts are my intellectual property, no matter how unversed they are. I however got that feeling you get when you are opening your mouth, savoring a tantalizingly sweet piece of Pizza, while watching a clip of a kid dying of hunger in Daadab. Human compassion is a funny thing. No matter how good your life is, or how happy you are, it is never complete when there are cries of help all around you. To be human is to be compassionate. To share the little that we have.

For that reason I have to pause and ask you to join this gentleman here, @ahmedsalims in this remarkable initiative that he has…to help feed Kenya.

This is his message:

“Jambo Kenya,

I woke up this morning with this guilt that we are ONE Nation and ONE people who would like to stand and speak ONE language of PEACE LOVE AND UNITY.

How can this happen when our own people in this country are suffering????
