Mummy’s not grown
Can’t manage on her own
But even ill-prepared
She still cared
Hush little baby, don’t you cry
Mummy’s gonna sing you a lullaby
Absorbed by fear
Sodden in ever salty tear
Made was the choice
Never to hear your voice
Hush little baby, don’t you cry
Your young life was not a lie
Gone from the womb
To the darkness of a tomb
Selfishly to spare strife and shame
Life will never be the same
Hush little baby, don’t you cry
Mummy’s never gonna let you truly die
To honour you, dedicated to you
Is dreams, hopes and changes too
Holding you dear, still writhing in pain
One fine day, we’ll meet again
Hush little bay, don’t you cry
Mummy’s gonna give you wings to fly

It was an inspired one, and it helped a number of friends. I considered keeping it personal but what good is a stifled voice? Thank you

It’s a sad poem isn’t it, about a departing mother. You technique is amazing!
