Poetry: Impulse Control

I went about finding myself
And I stumbled upon you
Guard down
Eyes wide shut
Limbic system overdrive
Heartbeat leaped
Then I paused.
You held my hand and smiled
And I sighed
Opened my eyes
Hole in my soul forced shut
Rational thought kicked in
And I smiled back.
