As I stand
At thy behest,
Dear Lord I pray,
You see through my inequities,
Transgressions and sins
That cursed and left me a mottled offspring.

As the time comes
For my judgment pronounce,
Dear Lord I pray
You grant me mercy;
In abundance and forget
The trail which I leave,
On my way home.

As my eyelids close
To the beauty of the setting sun,
Dear Lord I pray
That no more will I be blind
But forever more
See through the haze of eternity.

As I come home,
On the eve of that glorious day,
Dear Lord I pray,
That with open arms I’m received
To once again feel
The precious warmth that is love,
Dear Lord.
